The fifth and final season of Outer Banks won’t include every fan favorite after a character’s shocking death. Lilah came to her dad’s defense with her reply, which read, “Don’t believe everything you see online.”

News broke in October that an incident allegedly took place on the Outer Banks set in Dubrovnik, Croatia. At the time, TMZ reported that Jonas allegedly put his hands on the production assistant and shook her while shouting in her face. Outer Banks star Chase Stokes reportedly stepped in to separate them and Madelyn Cline helped de-escalate the situation.

Production continued after the alleged incident. Sources told TMZ that “tensions were high” on set but claimed the outburst was not “unusual behavior” for Jonas. Us Weekly reached out to Netflix and Jonas for comment.

Outer Banks, which debuted in 2020, follows the conflict between two groups of teenagers in a coastal North Carolina town. The social divide is introduced through the wealthy residents — called the Kooks — and the working class Pogues. A search for lost treasure causes the groups to be even more at odds.

Season 5 stars Stokes, 33, Cline, 28, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North and Fiona Palomo. Tony Crane and Cullen Moss were upped to series regulars for the final season.

“We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues,” Jonas previously told Netflix’s Tudum in a statement with fellow creators Josh Pate and Shannon Burke. “Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We can’t wait to show everyone what we have in store this season — it’s going to be a wild ride.”

As word spread about Outer Banks coming to an end, the creators reflected on the show’s origins in a November 2024 letter to fans.

“That photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time,” they wrote. “From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship. From there, P4L was born.”

After filming wrapped on Friday, Stokes opened up about saying goodbye to his character.

“I definitely don’t have the words for this experience right now, but what I will say is thank you. Most importantly to the people behind the lens that make this show come to life,” he wrote via Instagram. “I am such a small piece of a gigantic puzzle that is Outer Banks and as we close this chapter? I’m left with a full heart, a lot of gratitude and a very very special chapter of life.”

He concluded: “Thank you, all of you for following on this journey. Thank you for allowing John B and the Pogues into your homes. I’m forever indebted. I’m forever grateful. John B, is officially out.”

Outer Banks is currently streaming on Netflix.
