Patrick Mahomes played Santa for his Kansas City Chiefs teammates, going above and beyond with his annual holiday presents.
“Christmas came early for the o-line! Shoutout to QB1 for the gifts 🎄,” a Friday, December 19, post on the team’s official Instagram read, alongside image of the pricey presents.
Mahomes, 30, gave all the members of the Chiefs offensive line an Aventon electric bike (retails between $1,799 and $1,999), a pair of Beats Studio Pro headphones ($349), a Hublot watch (retails between $12,000 and $25,000), a hardshell Rimowa suitcase ($1,500), white sunglasses and a Full Swing golf simulator kit (starting at $11,000).
“Oh my,” a chorus of the NFL stars said in the social media footage of the moment they received their gifts. “Woah!”
Chukwuebuka Godrick added, “Appreciate you, Pat!”
The Chiefs starting quarterback usually goes all-out for the holiday season, previously handing out YETI coolers, Rolex watches or even golf carts personalized with the athletes’ jersey numbers in Decembers past.
“I got the O-Line a gift, [which] they got today. I got them some golf clubs, some designer luggage to take on the road and some other little things here and there that they could have,” Mahomes previously said on a December 2022 appearance on Audacy’s The Drive radio show. “I tried to get everyone a little something. All the O-Line’s telling me they wanna golf, so I got them all custom fitted golf clubs, so hopefully they can pick up their game and they’ll be able to go out and play a few rounds with me.”
The next year, Mahomes upped the ante with fully stocked golf carts.
“I got that golf cart, the club car, at home and I’m like, ‘Man, this is sweet.’ I was thinking of [gift] ideas and I wanted to change it up from what I’ve done in past years,” he said during a Chiefs press conference in December 2023. “I figured I’d get them something I really enjoy. … They enjoyed it [and] were going around Arrowhead [Stadium in them].”
Mahomes continued, “They do a lot for me, so I’m gonna take care of them as well.”
Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce later revealed that the entire O-Line were “flying around” the parking lot in their new carts.
“I was trying to get out of the parking lot and everybody’s just flying around,” tight end Travis, 36, recalled on his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast. “Those things are street legal, so they’re going about 35 miles per hour.”
Mahomes’ current NFL season, however, abruptly ended after the December 14 game when he sustained an ACL injury.
“Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie, it hurts. But all we can do now is Trust in God and attack every single day over and over again,” Mahomes tweeted after the Chiefs lost to the Los Angeles Chargers and were subsequently eliminated from playoff contention. “Thank you Chiefs Kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I will be back stronger than ever.”
Mahomes underwent surgery the following week.
“He’ll attack it, just like he does everything else,” coach Andy Reid said in a Monday, December 15, press conference, revealing the surgery was successful. “There have been some pretty good quarterbacks who have had the same injury, and they’ve done pretty well after they came back. He’ll get after it, and he’s got good people here to rehab him. He’ll be right on top of all of that.”
