Rachael Kirkconnell is clarifying where she stands with ex-boyfriend Matt James one month after their split.
Social media personality Zachary Reality pointed out that Kirkconnell, 28, “liked” one of James’ recent Instagram posts from his trip to Kenya in a Monday, February 17, TikTok video. “To me, this says, ‘We are on friendlier terms,” Zachary Reality said in the video “We’ve probably talked a little bit behind the scenes. Now I’m liking your post to let the fans know that things have smoothed over a little bit.’”
Kirkconnell agreed with his take in the post’s comments, but confirmed that her feelings for James, 33, as a person have not changed since they ended their romance. “Never hated him and never will, i will always be rooting for him and wish him the best,” she wrote. “At the end of the day a like is just a like. we’re all good over here 💛.”
Zachary Reality shared a screenshot of Kirkconnell’s comment via his Instagram Story on Monday, writing, “Queen Rachael Kirkconnell with a message in my tiktok comment section after speculation over her liking Instagram reel 🙏🌹💛.”
Kirkconnell continued to address her and James’ split by replying to more fan comments. “I want her to want better for herself,” one user wrote underneath the TikTok upload, to which Kirkconnell replied, “I do alexis!! we’re good over here.”
She went on to deny another comment suggesting she “liked” James’ post to get in his “good graces” after discussing their breakup on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast last month, as well as clarified that she never unfollowed James on social media.
“Maybe it’s her way of telling fans to lay off the hate on him. Even on CHD she didn’t want him to be pinned the villain,” a TikTok user commented. Kirkconnell responded by writing, “Yes Dana,” as well as left a yellow heart emoji under the comment.
James has not publicly commented on the pair’s breakup behind his split announcement, which he recently deleted. “Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts,” he captioned a pic of them from when they met on The Bachelor season 25 in 2021. “Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And
On the January 28 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Kirkconnell revealed that she and James broke up after getting into an argument while on a trip to Tokyo earlier that month. She also claimed James didn’t give her a heads-up about his Instagram breakup post, but rather saw the post go live right before she was about to board her flight home from Japan.
“I would love to know. I don’t know if it was out of just him being so worked up, if it was out of anger, or if it was one of those things where he felt like he needed to do it to really finally just put a nail in the coffin, but I have spoken with him since all of that and I do know that he definitely acknowledges that that was not the right decision,” she explained. “When I step back, I’m mad … he should not have done that to me after four years. He didn’t even text me to give me a warning, like, saying, ‘Hey, I’m posting this.’”
James, for his part, followed up their breakup by traveling to Kenya. “How you spend 24 hours in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪,” James captioned a montage of clips from his trip via Instagram on Monday, which was the post Kirkconnell left a “like” on.
