Rising TikTok star Joshua Blackledge cause of death at 16 revealed

TikTok star Joshua Blackledge’s cause of death has been revealed nearly three months after he was found dead.

The 16-year-old, who had boasted more than 1 million followers on the social media platform, died by suicide at his home in Newport, N.C., on March 18.

Blackledge left behind a teddy bear, paper note and a picture at the scene, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly. He was discovered by a family member.

The teen died of a gunshot wound to the head.

No drug paraphernalia was present, the docs added.

Blackledge was a junior at West Carteret High School in Morehead City, where he was heavily involved in wrestling and track, according to his obituary.

“He had a passion for the outdoors and loved being around water, whether fishing or boating with friends. He also had a love for cars and trucks,” the obit added.

“At home, Joshua liked helping his mom with cooking, gardening, and yard work. He had an energetic spirit and was known for his entertaining nature, often impressing others with backflips.”

Blackledge’s frequent video uploads often included his white BMW car, and most recently a new white truck.

His girlfriend, Emmie Gillikin, was also often featured on his account. The pair had celebrated their eight-month anniversary days before his untimely death.

Following his death, Gillikin shared a series of videos of the couple on social media.

“Missing this sweet boy right now. never would’ve thought i would have been here without you. Josh showed me what love really was even [though] im very young. he never failed to put a smile on my face no matter how mad i was at him … Even after these past couple days nothing seems real and im feeling all the emotions,” she wrote in March.

The couple first met a little over two years ago, and one of Joshua’s top-pinned videos included a compilation of the two of them that was posted on their five-month anniversary.

“These past 5 months being with you have been the best times of my life and are memories ill never forget and I can’t wait to make more with you in the future. I wish could be grown up already and live the life we dream of,” he wrote before his death.

The teen is survived by his parents and brother.
