A family of three was killed after Russian drones struck a residential building in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia late on Friday night, according to local media.

Regional governor Ivan Fedorov said the attack killed a 17 year-old girl and her father. The girl’s mother was reportedly taken to hospital, but later died of her injuries.

A further 14 people were wounded in the attack, suffering from burns, and other blast injuries.

The bombardment damaged at least 24 high-rise buildings and over 20 houses, according to local media reports.

One private residential building was completely destroyed, whilst two other residential buildings along with a kindergarten and nearby cars were damaged.

Local officials said two more people were killed in Russian attacks in the Donetsk region and one more in Kherson region.

Ukraine’s Air Force said it intercepted 100 out of 179 Russian drones launched overnight. Dozens more reportedly disappeared, which Ukrainian media say likely acted as decoys to overwhelm the country’s air defences.

Meanwhile, across the border, an apartment building in Russia’s southern city of Rostov-on-Don was hit by a Ukrainian drone overnight on Saturday.

Russian officials said two people were injured and there was damage to six apartments and the building’s exterior.

According to the Defence Ministry in Moscow, 47 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Russian territory overnight.

The attacks come as Ukraine and Russia agreed in principle on Wednesday to a limited ceasefire after US President Donald Trump spoke with the countries’ leaders this week.
