Sean “Diddy” Combs may have been sentenced to just around four years behind bars in his criminal case on Friday, but he still faces a mountain of lawsuits accusing him of sexual violence and other disturbing acts.
The nearly 70 civil suits will prove to be a “headache” for Combs — as he already faces legal fees in his federal sex-crimes case that could easily top $15 million so far, experts told The Post.
Lawyers were split on if the Bad Boy Records founder would “fight like hell” or dip into his dwindling, estimated $400 million fortune to quickly pay off his long list of accusers.
Attorney Nicole Brenecki said that it wouldn’t shock her if Combs moved to settle many of the claims, since the financial impact would be minimal, and he could quickly end the “continuing headache.”
But hip-hop and celeb attorney Bradford Cohen says the cases he reviewed appeared thin, and that Combs should fight back.
Settling “doesn’t make sense in the long run because the others are going to want to pursue you even harder now that you settled one case,” Cohen said.
David Setlzer, a former Miami prosecutor, pointed out that while Combs was convicted of two prostitution counts at his Manhattan federal court trial, he was still acquitted on the more serious sex-trafficking raps.
“He just got exonerated on multiple felonies — I think he’s going to come out stronger than ever,” the attorney said.
“It’s a business decision on how much he wants to spend. And I’m sure his lawyers are not cheap.”
Combs’ litigation nightmare kicked off in late 2023 when ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura sued him over rape and abuse claims.
The case was settled less than 24 hours later for a whopping $20 million, a sum Ventura revealed while testifying against Combs in his criminal trial.
That quick settlement opened the floodgates for more lawsuits, one lawyer said, adding that Combs’ best strategy now was to fight his way through.
“People got word that it was settled, and then there was blood in the water,” Cohen said, “the feeding begins, and the lawyers come out of the woodwork.”
Cohen, who has repped a huge number of celebs, including Drake, Travis Scott and Lil Wayne, hinted that Combs might take a page out of Cardi B’s book, who declined to settle a civil assault case and took it to trial, where she emerged victorious.
“Cardi B was very, very bright when it came to this type of situation,” Cohen said.
While likely that the singer spent multitudes more than any potential settlement on the case, Cohen said it sent a message: “Don’t play with me.”
“Most of these [Combs] lawsuits, when you read through them, there’s not a lot of substance to them,” Cohen said, adding that many of the decades-old claims lack any physical evidence.

“Once you start getting through the initial discovery, often they start to kind of fall apart,” he said of such cases.
Civil cases, Brenecki added, are “about you stuffing your pocket, so you need to do the work” — which involves producing extensive records and evidence to back up claims.
“You would be surprised how shocked people are when they find out that you can’t just go around saying: ‘I’m traumatized,’” she said.
Many of the 60-plus civil lawsuits filed against Combs contain claims of sexual assault, rape and other violent acts — some graphically described in court papers — with the alleged victim pool including men, women, adults and minors.
Co-founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, Kirk Burrowes, is suing over claims that he was forced to watch Combs masturbate and engage in sex acts with other — and ordered him to hire more gay male interns — in addition to claims of violence and coercion.
Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr., a Chicago record producer, alleges Diddy ordered him to acquire drugs and prostitutes to “perform sex acts to the pleasure of Mr. Combs.”
Many of Jones’ claims were dismissed in March, but his sexual assault claims remain active.
A handful of suits have already been dismissed outright, some of which came after judges ruled they could not proceed anonymously.
One of the most shocking suits, which claimed that Combs and Jay-Z raped a 13-year-old girl, was voluntarily dismissed with prejudice by the accuser’s lawyer Tony Buzbee in February.
Buzbee, who reps many of Combs’ accusers — and has since been banned from practicing law in Manhattan federal court — did not respond to a request for comment.
