A stranger slashed a 17-year-old boy in the face with a boxcutter over an accidental bump aboard a Bronx train, according to cops and law-enforcement sources. 

The teen was getting on the No. 3 train at the Third Avenue-149th Street Subway station in Mott Haven just before 4 p.m. Dec. 23 when he inadvertently bumped into the other straphanger, sources said.

The jostled rider flew into a rage, hissing, “Why are you pushing us?” before cutting the teen on the left side of his face with the weapon, authorities and sources said. 

The young victim was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

The assailant is still on the loose, with police releasing an image of him in hopes of tracking him down.

Despite the year-end violence, city officials touted a 4% drop in major subway crime in 2025 compared to 2024, with robberies down 12.5% — an all-time low — and shootings falling 62.5%.
