The new trailer for the final season of Stranger Things doesn’t reveal much about the show’s last few episodes, but one character was noticeably absent for much of the teaser: Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour.

Fans quickly noticed that Harbour, 50, received very little screentime in the trailer, which dropped Thursday, October 30. “I don’t like Stranger Things much, but David Harbour’s character’s deafening silence in the final trailer is HILARIOUS,” wrote one X user.

Another fan shared a table of each character’s screentime in the trailer, with Hopper coming in last place with just over 6 seconds on screen in the 2 minute, 40-second clip. (Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington also appeared in the clip slightly over 6 seconds, finishing just ahead of Hopper.)

Hopper appears only twice in the clip, which reveals the return of season 4 villain Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). In one scene, he and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) explore the Upside Down, while in the other they seem to be inside a mysterious laboratory.

The mostly Hopper-less trailer comes just days after Harbour’s ex-wife, Lily Allen, dropped West End Girl, a scathing breakup album about their divorce, on Friday, October 24. In multiple tracks, Allen, 40, heavily insinuates that Harbour cheated on her prior to their 2024 separation. (The former couple tied the knot in 2020.)

On the opening title track, Allen recalls moving to New York City with the actor in 2021 before receiving a phone call informing her that she had gotten the lead role in a West End play. When she informed her partner, she sings that his “demeanor started to change,” so she went home to London “all alone” to begin rehearsals. (Allen starred in both 2021’s 2:22 A Ghost Story and 2023’s The Pillowman.)

One of David Harbour’s former partners is seemingly offering her support to Lily Allen after the release of the pop star’s new breakup album, West End Girl. “West End Girl 24.10.25,” Allen recently captioned a series of promotional images onto her Instagram. Alison Sudol, who dated 50-year-old Harbour before his marriage to 40-year-old Allen, celebrated […]

In the second and third songs, “Ruminating” and “Sleepwalking,” Allen sings about staying up all night thinking about her partner having sex with other women while she is away. “Sleepwalking” includes the lyrics, “Been no romance since we wed / ‘Why aren’t we f***ing, baby?’ Yeah, that’s what you said / But you let me think it was me in my head / And nothing to do with them girls in your bed.”

In an interview published days after the album’s release, Allen said she doesn’t intend for West End Girl to cause her ex any harm.

“It’s not a cruel album,” she told Interview magazine in a Q&A published Tuesday, October 28. “I don’t feel like I’m being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time.”

She said the album was written and recorded in December 2024, the same month that she and Harbour split after four years of marriage.

“I feel very differently about the whole situation now,” she told Interview. “We all go through breakups, and it’s always f***ing brutal. But I don’t think it’s that often that you feel inclined to write about it while you’re in it.”

Lily Allen and David Harbour are selling their New York City home following the release of her breakup album, West End Girl. The pair listed their 19th-century Brooklyn townhouse with Carl Gambino of Compass for $7,995,000. The four-level abode features five bedrooms and four bathrooms. While some listeners have described West End Girl as a “revenge album,” Allen declared in the interview, “I don’t need revenge.”

“That’s what’s fun about this record; it’s viscerally like going through the motions. At the time, I was really trying to process things, and that’s great in terms of the album, but I don’t feel confused or angry now,” she explained, adding that she wanted the project to “feel brutal and tragic but also empowering” because it was “very important” to her that she “didn’t sound like a victim.”

Harbour has not publicly responded to Allen’s claims on West End Girl. When asked by Interview how she thought her ex might react, Allen told the outlet, “I try not to think about that.”
