A teen who fatally stabbed a man outside Brooklyn’s Barclays Center last week was believed to be robbing the victim as part of a citywide gang of thieves, law-enforcement sources said Tuesday — as the suspect was nabbed.
Noah Rentas, 18, was arrested at 8:10 a.m. for the murder of 27-year-old Michael Hernandez, cops said.
Rentas was with three other teenagers when Hernandez was stabbed once in the chest and multiple times in the back around 9 p.m. Friday.
Rentas is charged with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
He has no priors, sources said.
Sources said the murder may have been connected to wider string of robberies.
Nothing was stolen from Menendez when he was killed, but sources suggested it could’ve been because the robbery attempt went awry.
Hernandez’s family was present at the 78th Precinct in Brooklyn when Rentas was escorted out of the station following his arrest.
