The Golden Bachelor’s Kathy Swarts and Joan Vassos are ready to kiss and tell about sex after 60.
“I haven’t lost my sex drive,” Kathy, 72, shared on the Saturday, March 28, episode of iHeartRadio’s “I Do, Part 2” podcast. “You haven’t lost yours.”
Joan, 63, replied, “Absolutely not. … I think it’s a fact that a lot of people lose their sex drive to the person they’re married to because they become too involved in their lives and it just becomes less of a priority. And then once that kind of happens, then it’s hard to get it back.”
According to Kathy, who remains single after appearing on The Golden Bachelor in 2023, she has many girlfriends who are no longer interested in intimacy.
As she tries to find a new man, Kathy said she cannot relate.
“I have a lot of female friends who, after they had their children, have said to me, ‘Kath, you’re going to date and sleep with guys?’” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Well, if I find a guy I’m interested in, I’m not just going to hang a shinkle out.’ And they said, ‘I could care less about sex. I don’t care if I ever have sex again. I have my kids, I have my tennis team. I don’t care.’ I almost feel like I’m in the minority.”
Joan, who first appeared on The Golden Bachelor in 2023 before she was cast as the lead in The Golden Bachelorette in 2024, also discussed the topic of “f*** boys” in the senior citizen community.
According to both members of Bachelor Nation, they have each encountered men who are more interested in sex than a relationship.
“The most recent experience happened like two weeks ago with, like, a 30-year-old hitting on me and he wanted to come up to my hotel room,” Joan — who is engaged to her Golden Bachelorette contestant Chock Chapple — revealed. “I was like, ‘This is not happening.’”
Kathy added, “When I meet a guy, they find out really quickly that that’s not my thing. I have had men ask me, like, ‘Hey, I find you really attractive. You want to just have sex?’ Like no, I don’t, but thank you because thanks for asking.”
Before the episode came to an end, both Joan and Kathy also explored the topic of sex toys.
While Joan said she’s never tried one, Kathy explained to listeners that the objects could provide a whole different kind of intimacy to adults.
“I did not know until recently, because someone educated me on this, that that’s a whole other kind of sex,” she said. “It’s of intimacy of your partner and you using sex toys.”
