The most popular — and most unique — dog names of 2025

Online pet supply retailer and pharmacy Chewy released a report of the top names for dogs and puppies in 2025, revealing both the most popular and most unique names.

Chewy uses the data from pet profiles to find out pet name trends and name popularity.

According to the report, the No. 1 most popular dog name for 2025 — both male and female — is Bella, with more Chewy pets with that name than any other.

The top 10 dog names for 2025 were, in order: Bella, Luna, Daisy, Lucy, Max, Charlie, Bailey, Cooper, Buddy and Sadie.

Last year, the No. 1 most popular male dog name in 2024 was Charlie, according to Rover’s 12th annual Top Pet Names Report.

Dog naming trends often mirror both pop culture and trends in baby names.

And aside from the top 10 most popular names that many people come up with, other pups on Chewy had more unique names.

Food-inspired names continue to grow in popularity. Cheeto and Pickles both rose about 25% in popularity since 2024, and Brisket rose up 68%, Ciara Lavelle, pet expert at Chewy, told HuffPost.

Other foodie pet names included Coco Puffs, Mac-n-Cheese, Garbanzo Bean, Spicy Sausage adnd Prince Tater Tot.

Last year, Rover reported that the top food name trend for dogs was a three-way tie between Calzone, Chive and Provolone — which were all up 211% compared to 2023.

“You can take inspiration from just about anything as you’re naming your dog — their color, their personality, or your favorite movies or musicians,” Lavelle said.

Some of the other unique names include Penny Lane the Great Dane, Pawpeye, Lilliput, Sub-Zero, Trouble, Lady Beast, Marie Antoinette, Milky Way, Mister Moose, CJ (Christmas Joy), Super Duper Cooper, Gandalf the Grey, Hollywood, Bull Dozer and Chewbarka.
