The Summer I Turned Pretty fans have watched the cast change on and off screen ahead of the show’s series finale.
Based on Jenny Han’s three novels, The Summer I Turned Pretty is focused on a love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung), Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). In addition to the main trio, viewers have also learned more about Belly’s brother, Steven (Sean Kaufman), mom Laurel (Jackie Chung) and best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer).
Han wrote a trilogy — The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer — which hinted that the show would only last three seasons. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, previously hinted at plans to expand the onscreen universe.
“I will say stay tuned, but Jenny’s got some exciting surprises. So we’re thrilled about a season 3, and she’s got a vision for more,” he told Deadline in September 2023. “This show is going to continue to be a huge centerpiece for us, and we absolutely have plans to continue building it. Jenny’s got great vision for where she wants to go with all of it, but we’re already hard at work developing complementary pieces.”
Later, however, Sanders shut down the idea of a possible Summer I Turned Pretty spinoff.
“That was probably wishful thinking for me at the time, and Jenny has stayed really focused [on] getting these seasons right,” he shared with Deadline in July 2025. “We’re pursuing new and different things with Jenny right now. She’s presented some other things that are related to this.”
Sanders noted that he hoped to continue to collaborate with Han in some capacity.
“So once the full season is launched, we’ll get into conversations, and we’ll ask her to pick from the many things that she’s surfaced,” he added. “But we’ve moved away from those conversations.”

Lola Tung
The actress is set to make her film debut in Forbidden Fruits and The Young People. She has also appeared in several plays: Set Me Free, Almost Famous and Hadestown.
Christopher Briney
Since The Summer I Turned Pretty, Briney has been cast in Dalíland and the Mean Girls remake. He has also appeared in the Broadway play Dilaria.
Briney has been in a relationship with Isabel Machado since 2021 after meeting at Pace University.
Gavin Casalegno
Off screen, Casalegno dated Larsen Thompson for several years before finding love with Cheyanne King. The couple got married in 2024.
Sean Kaufman
Before The Summer I Turned Pretty came to an end, Kaufman sparked romance rumors with his former onscreen love interest Minnie Mills.
Rain Spencer
Spencer has worked on Good Girl Jane and Test Screening after rising to stardom as Taylor.
