Tom Brady only has one regret about Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady.

“It’s tough on my kids, for sure,” Brady, 47, admitted during a Tuesday, May 6, appearance on the “Impaulsive” podcast. “I went in there, look, you don’t know what to expect and I love laughing at myself.”

While the former NFL star thought the entire May 2024 roast felt like he was in the “locker room,” his family felt differently.

“The harder people go at me, I actually love it,” Brady continued. “If people make fun of you, then I know that I’m good with them. I don’t take myself too serious, but I do understand for my kids, that was really hard.”

Brady is the father of three kids. He welcomed son Jack with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan in August 2007. He and ex-wife Gisele Bündchen are parents to son Benjamin, born in December 2009, and daughter Vivian, born in December 2012.

Tom Brady admitted that being the subject of a Netflix roast wasn’t his best parenting move. “I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids,” Brady, 46, said during a Tuesday, May 14, appearance on the “Pivot Podcast.” He continued: “It’s […]

“There’s some things as a parent you f*** up and you don’t realize until after,” Brady continued. “We’re not perfect parents and you’ll see as you grow up, there’s no perfect manual for it and you’ve got to evaluate yourself as a parent too, all the time.”

Brady admitted that the night of The Roast of Tom Brady “was electric,” but the athlete really felt the weight of it the next day.

“I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day and I felt like a stake through the heart, understandably,” he said. “They’re protective of their mom, of their dad, of everybody. They’re just [like], ‘What was the point of that? Why did you do that?’ You live and you learn.”

Jokes included in The Roast of Tom Brady went hard on the former professional athlete, but also addressed his past relationship with Bündchen, 44.

Brady and Bündchen filed for divorce in 2022 after 13 years of marriage. Following their split, she moved on with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, which provided material for most of the jabs during Brady’s roast. (Bündchen and Valente welcomed their first child together in February.)

“Jesus Christ, Tom. One of the smartest quarterbacks who ever played the game. How did you not see this coming? Eight f***ing karate classes a day. … Eight karate classes a day and she’s still a white belt,” Kevin Hart said during the roast. “F*** Tom. The only bruises she had were on her ass. Everybody should have known it.”

A source told Us Weekly exclusively that Brady and Bündchen spoke after the roast.

“She thinks her new relationship should have been off-limits. Tom did reach out to Gisele to apologize to her,” the insider said in May 2024. “They are cordial and only communicate about the kids.”
