President Trump has warned that Democrats are at risk of becoming a minority party if they continue on their current path of spouting politically unviable ideas.

Blasting Democrats for largely refusing to clap for him during his address to the joint session of Congress last week, Trump, 78, mused that the opposition party is in turmoil.

“They lost an election in a landslide. When I looked the other night, I made a speech, the Republicans were going wild, and the Democrats were having their little signs up,” Trump told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” in a pre-taped interview.

“And I said, it’s unbelievable. They don’t get it,” he went on. “And I think they’re going to end up being a minor party if they keep going like this because people don’t want to hear about these stupid ideas that they have. Transgender for everybody. And again, the men and women in sports, what is that, a 90 to 10 deal?”

Trump is the first Republican to win the popular vote in a presidential election cycle since 2004. His popular vote victory was the slimmest margin by a presidential victor since Richard Nixon in 1968.

Republicans now control both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

During Trump’s annual presidential address to Congress last Tuesday, some Democrats held up signs accusing him of wanting to slash Medicaid funding.

A handful skipped the feted speech, while others got up and walked out during parts of it. Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) stood up and shouted at Trump, waving his cane around before the sergeant-at-arms escorted him out.

The GOP-led House later voted to censure him in response, rendering him the 28th representative to get censured in the lower chamber’s history.

Democrats are mired in soul-searching as to why they lost across-the-board to Republicans last November and are debating their strategy going forward.

Trump expressed his astonishment that Democrats haven’t shifted their stance on transgenderism to oppose participation of trans athletes in women’s sports.

“They’re fighting for it,” Trump said. “Is there something I don’t understand? But we don’t understand it?”

Last week, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) publicly admitted that transgender competitors in women’s sports isn’t fair, but stopped short of backing a ban on the practice, while acknowledging the political boon it’s been for Republicans.

Trump also dinged Democrats on taxes.

“All my life I’ve watched politicians [say] ‘We will cut your taxes, we will cut your taxes.’ These people say, ‘We’re going to raise your taxes,’” he added.

Despite their drubbing last November, Democrats are seeing a silver lining in some of the protests that have popped up during GOP town hall events.

Lawmakers of the majority party often weather protests at their town hall events before the minority party comes roaring back to power in the midterms, as happened in the 2010 and 2018 elections.

Former Democratic vice-presidential hopeful Tim Walz has since publicly bemoaned how safe the Harris campaign played the 2024 race.

“We shouldn’t have been playing this thing so safe,” Walz told Politico. “We, as a party, are more cautious.

“In football parlance, we were in a prevent defense to not lose when we never had anything to lose because I don’t think we were ever ahead,” the former football coach further reflected.
