President Trump’s long-promised ICE raids continued on Thursday — as the total number of illegal migrants nabbed by federal authorities reached 538, including new arrests of pedophiles, gang members, and a suspected terrorist in New York.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are currently scouring cities and states trying to round up illegal aliens who are either wanted for crimes in their home country or who have committed crimes during their time in the US.
A source told The Post that many of the migrants rounded up by agents were convicted in “some very heinous cases.”
ICE’s crack-down spanned several states — including a controversial raid on a Newark, NJ business in which agents failed to provide a warrant for the search and temporarily detained a military veteran without cause, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka alleged.
However, the day was marked by successful apprehensions of various pervs and perps including five men convicted of sexual crimes against children, a suspected terrorist, smugglers, and alleged murderers.
In New York state, ICE agents took several migrant criminals into custody, including the suspected terrorist.
ICE New York apprehended Gokhan Adriguzel, a 30-year-old Turkish national, who is a “known or suspected terrorist,” according to a release from the agency.
Big Apple-centric ICE agents also took into custody a known MS-13 gangbanger.
Juan Francisco Sanchez Contreras, 22, an El Salvadoran national, is an MS-13 gang member and was illegally living in the United States until today, according to the release.
ICE Buffalo also had their hands full — taking three men into custody.
Pedro Julio Meja, a citizen of the Dominican Republic, was previously convicted of sexual conduct against a child, according to the agency.
Luis Alberto Espinoza-Boconsaca, an Ecuadorian who was convicted of rape, was also taken into custody in the upstate city.
Albert Mills, a citizen of Canada, convicted of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of stolen property, was the third arrested by ICE Buffalo.
Two other individuals known to be members of South America-based gangs were taken into custody in other US cities.
In San Antonio, Texas, Yoswaldo Jose Mata-Ribice, a 24-year-old Venezuelan national and known member of Tren de Aragua, was arrested by ICE agents and is set to be deported.
Jesus Alberto Barron-Lavin, a 42-year-old Mexican national and member of the gang Barrio Azteca, was taken into custody by ICE agents in El Paso, Texas.
Two Chinese nationals were arrested in St. Louis, Mo., who were previously charged with wire fraud, according to the release.
ICE agents also effected removal orders in Tuscon, Az., Charlotte, NC., Birmingham, Ala., San Antonio, Texas, El Paso, Texas, St. Louis, Mo., Seattle, Wash., Chicago, Ill., Fort Wayne, Ind., Denver, Co., San Francisco, Calif., Salt Lake City, Utah, St. Paul, Minn., Buffalo, NY, Baltimore, MD., Atlanta, Ga., and even San Juan, Puerto Rico.
