That was unexpected! O’Sullivan looked to be setting up for a big break but missed a straight forward shot to the bottom right. Hawkins then misses a good chance into the adjacent pocket though and O’Sullivan could be away again.

Hawkins potted the first red but couldn’t get on a colour and then Hawkins misses a narrow cut witht he rest and leaves a mid-range pot for O’Sullivan who finds the middle of the pocket.

What a way to start the tournament.

O’Sullivan misses a red to an ‘aaah’ from the crowd but he is over the line and has regained the lead.

O’Sullivan got the better of the safety exchange and is now over the line.

O’Sullivan didn’t get any luck going into the pack of reds and has to end the break with a safety.

Hawkins misses a long red by a long way and O’Sullivan will try to build a break now.

Hawkins adds another 23 to his earlier half-century to level the scores.

O’Sullivan misses his first ball of the match, a mid-range ball you’d have expected him to notch. Hawkins now will level the arrears.

Right on the finishing line, Hawkins misses a pink and now O’Sullivan can make him pay for it.

A fantastic break this from Hawkins and a great show of character. He opens the remaining pack of reds and should win from here.
