Orange Peel Chutney, Anyone?

Saraswathy paati AKA theiyerpaati shared a recipe for Orange Thol Thogayal, a thick chutney made of orange peels. This chuteny has anti-ageing properties as it has orange peels.

Ingredients 

- Orange peels (from 5-6 oranges) - 1 tbsp of oil - 1 cup of urad dal - 6-8 dried red chillies - Tamarind ( small lemon sized) - 1/4 tsp of asafoetida - salt - 1 tsp of jaggery - Water

Step 1 

Peel 5 to 6 oranges and roughly chop the peels.

Roast urad dal, hing and red chillies together in a kadai with hot oil.

Step 2

Add the orange peels into the kadai once the urad dal turns brown. After 2-3 minutes, add tamarind and salt and cover with a lid.

Step 3

Once the orange peels cool down, add the mixture into a blender with jaggery and water.

Step 4

Blend into a coarse paste and your  Orange Thol Thogayal is ready! Enjoy with rotis or rice.
