Combine chicken pieces with yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, and salt. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a pot. Add sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, green chillies, and biryani masala. Sauté until fragrant.

In a separate pot, cook basmati rice according to package instructions.
