Christina Applegate is pulling back the curtain on her romantic history.
Applegate, 54, spilled never-before-heard details about her love triangle with Skid Row rocker Sebastian Bach and A-list actor Brad Pitt, dishing all about her sitcom stardom and life in the spotlight in her new memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, which hit shelves on March 3, 2026.
The Married… with Children star revealed that her famous TV character, Kelly Bundy, wasn’t the only one juggling dates. She penned about her brief fling with Pitt, 62, in 1989, explaining why they didn’t talk for “years” after parting ways after she ditched him for Bach, 57.

Christina Applegate and Brad Pitt Once Shared a Social Circle and Were Friendly
“We had been platonic pals for the longest time,” Christina Applegate wrote about Brad Pitt in an excerpt of her book. “He’d often swing by my 750-square-foot row house with a tiny door, and we’d have barbecues and hang out, always part of a much bigger group.”
Applegate revealed that her feelings changed over time, and the pair seemingly developed an attraction toward each other. “One day, I took another look at Brad and thought, ‘Hmm,” she explained. “Apparently he did the same.”

Christina Applegate reflected on her iconic red carpet appearance alongside Brad Pitt at the star-studded awards show in September 1989, where she served as a presenter.
She opted for a vintage look, wearing a silk driving scarf and matching floral dress with spaghetti straps and black pumps. Pitt complimented her style choice, wearing a black suit jacket and floral undershirt with a white T-shirt.
Applegate revealed that the Fight Club star was the ultimate gentleman, offering to pick up her mom, Nancy Priddy, and her best friend at the time, Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Lori Allison.
“I had to get there early to rehearse my appearance,” she penned. “Brad was kind enough to drive to my house to pick up my mom and Lori Depp and get them to the theater.”

Applegate, who was 17 at the time of the 1989 VMAs, said she couldn’t help but thirst over Sebastian Bach, who was at the height of his fame while Brad Pitt had yet to land his breakout role in Thelma & Louise.
“I had spent all night staring at Bach, who was then a long-haired hunk fronting the band Skid Row,” she spilled. “I hate to put it like this, but Brad back then was still making his way as an actor, and he wasn’t yet THE Brad Pitt, the man of so many people’s dreams.”
“I felt so powerful and sure of myself for once that when the awards show was over, I left with Sebastian Bach,” she admitted. “Brad was left to sullenly drive my mom and Lori home. “Apparently, at a gas station on the way, Brad almost got into a fight with a bunch of gang members, and, not surprisingly, was subsequently very mad at me.”
She added, “We didn’t talk for many years after that.”

Christine Applegate said that a romance with Sebastian Bach never came to fruition, and that Brad Pitt later agreed to let bygones be bygones.
“Eventually, we agreed that I’d been a kid,” she penned, “and though he’d deserved much better, it was time to forgive the child who dumped him for the lead singer of Skid Row.”
Sebastian Bach Weighs In
Sebastian Bach revealed that he was “surprised” when all the news about the 1989 VMAs “hit,” in a March 2026 interview with Billboard.
“I was a single guy on tour, in a band, and I met a lot of girls and I apologize if I hurt her,” he said. “If I hurt anybody.”
Bach continued, “When you’re young you get thrown into the whirlwind of rock ‘n’ roll, meeting a lot of people and you better hold on tight. It’s like being on a roller-coaster … It was a long time ago. If I hurt anybody, I apologize for it.”
