Bill Lawrence‘s medical drama Scrubs is being revived over a decade after its finale season — but which stars are and aren’t reprising their roles?

Scrubs, which originally aired from 2001 to 2010, followed the lives of employees at the fictional teaching hospital Sacred Heart Hospital. The hit series starred Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Judy Reyes, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins and John C. McGinley before it was brought back for a ninth season titled Med School.

The show’s final season moved the setting to a medical school to introduce new characters. Only Braff, Faison and McGinley remained regular cast members while others made guest appearances. Kerry Bishé, Eliza Coupe, Dave Franco and Michael Mosley were brought in, and Bishé became the show’s new narrator after Braff, but the concept only lasted one season.

ABC confirmed in July 2025 that they were reviving the show for season 10. Keep scrolling to see which cast members have confirmed they are returning — and which haven’t yet:

From sitcoms and game shows to dramas and cartoons, the list of TV reboots and revivals is a long one. Waiting to Exhale and Conan the Barbarian are both films being made into TV shows, while Gilmore Girls was transformed into four seasons for its Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which […]

Zach Braff

After playing J.D. in the original series, Braff is confirmed to return as one of the leads in the revival.

Donald Faison

Faison played Turk for nine seasons and is reprising the role when the show returns on ABC.

Sarah Chalke

Following her eight-season run as Elliot on Scrubs, Chalke only returned as a guest star in season 9. Elliot, who found love with J.D., is coming back in the revival.

Judy Reyes

Reyes played Carla for the first eight seasons and is returning in the revival series as a recurring cast member.

“ABC has been really wonderful about creating space for me to actually do Scrubs. It’s a four-episode recurring arc — so that makes it very doable — and because they’re both on ABC/Disney, they’re working together to make it possible,” Reyes exclusively told Us Weekly in September 2025. “So I’m very grateful.”

Reyes teased what fans can expect when the show checks in on Carla, adding, “I just got the script today. What I know is that Turk and Carla are still together and they have four kids. They still work at Sacred Heart Hospital and the three leads have three interns of their own.”

John C. McGinley

McGinley, who portrayed Cox during Scrubs‘ original run, is returning as well.

Robert Maschio

Maschio has been announced as part of season 10 after previously portraying The Todd.

Phill Lewis

Lewis will reprise his role as Hooch in a recurring guest star role in the revival. For those that need a reminder, the last time fans saw Hooch, he was being arrested for taking interns hostage.

Neil Flynn

Flynn has not yet been announced as part of the revival after having a breakout role in the OG series as Janitor.

Christa Miller

Another name not on the cast list — yet — is Jordan, who is played by Lawrence’s real-life wife, who has appeared in most of his projects.

Johnny Kastl

Despite his scene-stealing role as Dr. Doug Murphy, Kastl isn’t expected to return after leaving acting behind. He is now a lawyer and has remained out of the spotlight.
