Who Should Replace Luis Rojas as Mets Manager?

The 2021 Mets season was incredibly disappointing and underwhelming for a team that entered with playoff aspirations. A record of 77-85 is an inexcusably bad in a year when nobody ran away with the NL East. The Mets’ only decision was to part ways with Luis Rojas, which is what happened Monday afternoon. This team needs a fresh start with a new president of baseball operations, general manager and manager. Steve Cohen and Sandy Alderson have a ton of major decisions to make this offseason.

To talk about the Rojas firing, potential replacements and look back at the Mets season, we bring you the season finale of the “Amazin’ But True” with Nelson Figueroa and I. The next episode of the show will drop when the next big Mets news hits.

‘Amazin’ But True’ Podcast Season Finale with Jake & Figgie:

  • ROJAS FIRED: This was the right move. Players underperformed, but the manager is held accountable. He made a ton of questionable in-game decisions that cost the Mets. He was dealt a tough hand with injuries and players not living up to the back of their baseball card, the Mets need a fresh start with a new voice after two underachieving sub-.500 seasons,
  • REPLACEMENT: Should Carlos Beltran be the favorite to replace Rojas? Figgie explains why Beltran makes the most sense, gives good insight on being his teammate and why he is going to be a great manager if given a chance. Alex Cora got a chance and thrived and Beltran deserves the same. Eduardo Perez? Joe McEwing? John Gibbons? Buck Showalter?
  • 2021 METS: There were too many hitters that did not do enough. Pete Alonso was by far the team MVP. There were a few bright spots, but overall this team should have won more than 77 games. What needs to happen this offseason?
  • WHO STAYS WHO GOES: We go through the Mets free agents and debate whether or not the Mets will bring them back. Michael Conforto, Javier Baez, Marcus Stroman, Noah Syndergaard, Aaron Loup, Brad Hand, Rich Hill, Jeurys Familia, Kevin Pillar, Jonathan Villar
