Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson is sharing an update on his mom Kay’s health in the wake of his father Phil’s death two weeks ago.
Things aren’t looking so rosy for the Duck Dynasty matriarch, 77, according to Willie, who spoke to the USA Today network in an interview published on Thursday, June 5.
“Kay is not in the best of health,” Willie, 53, told the outlet. “We’re trying to help her out as much as we can.”
Willie shared that some of Kay’s health issues are physical while others are related to the grief of losing her longtime husband.
“Some of it is she is just depressed,” Willie said. “She lost her partner of 60 years.”
Phil died at the age of 79 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease last month. His death was confirmed via a Facebook post shared on May 25, by his daughter-in-law Korie Robertson.
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” Korie, 51, wrote via the social media platform. “Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, by his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”
Willie reshared his wife Korie’s statement, while Phil’s other son Jase posted his own statement via social media on the same day.
“My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!” Jase, 55, wrote via X.
Speaking to Us Weekly earlier in May prior to Phil’s death, Willie shared his dad’s condition had been progressing, while his mother Kay had been showing signs of dealing with a similar health issue.
“Dad’s not doing well at all. It’s definitely progressing,” Willie told Us. “And mom has shown the same type of symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia. It’s just part of life — and mom has her good days.”
Meanwhile Korie recently told TV Insider in May that Kay had suffered a few falls.
“Kay is struggling with a lot of falls,” Korie told the publication. “I think she forgets that she can’t really walk, so she’ll fall, and that’s been hard to deal with.”
Willie and Jase are two of Phil and Kay’s four children, which also includes brothers Alan and Jep. In 2020, Phil learned he is also father of a daughter named Phyllis following an affair he had in the ‘70s.
