World Series tickets drop in price after Yankee losses — but NY officials warn of deals that are too good to be true

Ticket prices for the World Series games in the Bronx were dropping faster than Yankees fans’ hopes of another title — but state officials are warning that before you click “buy” beware of scams.

With the Fall Classic headed to Yankee Stadium for the first time in 15 years, tickets were fetching insane minimum prices of $1,500 just days ago but after the Bronx Bombers dropped the first two games of the series in Los Angeles resale tickets for Monday’s game were going for the low, low price of $700.

“We couldn’t be more excited for our New York Yankees to bring the World Series to the Bronx this week,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “With demand soaring to witness this historic match up, I’m encouraging New Yorkers to protect their hard earned money and be on the lookout for potential scams.”

Hours before first pitch on Monday, nosebleed seats at Yankee Stadium were selling for hundreds of dollars on Ticketmaster and StubHub, with one ticket behind first base selling for $43,743.

According to the New York State Division of Consumer Protection, websites like Craigslist and Facebook Market place are rife with ticket peddlers taking advantage of the hometown fans desperate to watch the Yankees turn things around.

One Craigslist posting offered four tickets in section 1119 — a section that does not exist.

Tips from the state Division of Consumer Protection include verifying the seller, purchasing direct when possible — and being suspicious of low prices.
