Not every great movie gets the attention it deserves.
Whether it’s because their releases were fumbled or because people simply didn’t get them at the time, the three films we’re highlighting in September 2025 are a little underappreciated and overlooked.
Watch With Us is shining a spotlight on these overlooked movies, starring Amy Adams, Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell, available on a variety of streaming services.
Check them out — especially if you missed them the first time around. You’ll be glad you did.
‘Nightbitch’ (2024)
We’ve all heard the stories of mothers, filled with adrenaline, lifting cars off their children, becoming empowered with an almost supernatural strength. In Nightbitch, Amy Adams plays a mother who is feeling powerless — her husband’s work schedule keeps him traveling often, leaving her as the sole caretaker for their toddler. The mix of frustration, rage and love she feels becomes so potent that it actually transforms her physically.
As she embraces her new, feral instincts, the Mother (who is never named in the film) begins to influence the other moms in her community. Directed by Marielle Heller (The Diary of a Teenage Girl, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) and based on the 2021 novel by Rachel Yoder, Nightbitch is a playfully horrifying examination of motherhood, community and child-rearing.
Nightbitch is available to stream on Hulu.
‘Stranger Than Fiction’ (2006)
IRS auditor Harold Crick (Will Ferrell) is a creature of habit who never strays from his routine — until he hears a narrator’s voice (Emma Thompson) explaining that he is about to die. As he works frantically to try to find the source of the voice, he learns that he is the protagonist of a novel and has no control over his own destiny. Accepting his fate, Harold finally begins to live his life to the fullest.
A rare, more dramatic role for Ferrell that he pulls off with aplomb, Stranger Than Fiction is nonetheless a funny, quirky and clever film. With a supporting cast that includes Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Queen Latifah, it’s a sweet story about lives worth living and stories worth telling.
Stranger Than Fiction is available to stream on Peacock, Tubi and Pluto TV.
‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ (2013)
Directed by and starring Ben Stiller, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty contains some of the surreal vibes that would later make his series Severance such a hit. Stiller plays Walter Mitty, a dissatisfied daydreamer who constantly slips into fantasy rather than living his real life.
When Walter’s job at Life magazine requires him to track down a missing photograph from a revered artist, he steps out of fantasy and into reality — leading to a dangerous, life-changing adventure. Visually complex and emotionally resonant, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty also stars Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Sean Penn and Kathryn Hahn.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is available to stream on Hulu.
