Brandon Armstrong‘s wife, Brylee Armstrong, is giving fans the inside scoop about where Dancing With the Stars cast members settle down when a new season starts.

In a TikTok video uploaded Sunday, September 7, Brylee addressed what fans have come to know as “the DWTS apartments,” revealing that the setup is “no longer a thing.”

“Since I posted my moving vlogs yesterday, there were tons of questions about Brandon and I’s living situation,” she began. “The last couple of years, fans have noticed that some of the celebrities and some of the pros have been posting from a similar looking place and they’ve been referring to it as the ‘DWTS apartments.’ And that is because the show used to put all of the out of state pros and out-of-state celebrities up.”

Brylee remembered when Brandon, 31, was paired with influencer Lele Pons for season 32 in 2023 and living in the same building as other cast members, comparing the experience to summer camp.

“That was the only year that they put everybody up at the same place,” she said. “Last year, they stopped putting all of the out-of-state pros up, just because all of the other pros have relocated and moved their lives out to L.A. and there’s only, like, three of them that haven’t. And so they basically were just like, ‘Hey, here’s the deal,’ which, fair enough, honestly.”

While Brylee had “so much fun” sharing the space with fellow pros and celebs, she also noted that the living situation could be stressful at times.

“When we would run into these people in the elevator, immediately they’d be talking about dances they have coming up and stressful things. I was like, ‘OK, let’s leave work at work,’” she explained. “I don’t know if it stressed Brandon out, but it stressed me out.”

According to Brylee, the couple have “thought about” moving to L.A. permanently, so staying for a few months during the DWTS season is “a good test” when it comes to finding a place they like. (Brandon, who first competed on DWTS as a pro in 2018, married Brylee in 2022.)

Despite not being put up by the show, Brylee said hunting for a short-term apartment “wasn’t that much of a struggle.” Considering where to live long-term, however, has been more challenging.

“It’s been really hard to figure out where we want our home base to be, because Brandon is gone on tour for four months of the year. Then he’s got three or four months off in the summer, which we use for travel. Then come August, and we come back down to L.A. until December-ish, and then the cycle continues,” she told her TikTok followers.

Brylee added that the solution might become more clear whenever the pair decide to expand their family. Though they “go back and forth” about where to put down their roots, Brylee is leaning toward Utah.

“When we start having kids, I want them to be close to their grandparents, to their aunts and uncles, their cousins,” she said. “Also selfishly, for me, I want to be close to my mom and Brandon’s mom for when I do start having kids and I might need some help.”

The season 34 DWTS cast was officially announced on Wednesday, September 3, revealing Brandon will be dancing with Fifth Harmony alum Lauren Jauregui. Much to fans’ surprise, the 29-year-old pop star told Good Morning America she found out she was cast just two days before the big announcement.

Brylee took to TikTok shortly after the GMA reveal to break down how a last-minute DWTS partnership came to be.

“This happens so often,” she said. “More often than you would think. … Brandon has a partner, Lauren is great. It’s going to be an amazing season.”

Dancing With the Stars premieres on ABC and Disney+ Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
