Savannah Blackstock Lee, daughter of Brandon Blackstock, announced she was pregnant with her second baby just one month before Blackstock’s death at age 48.
“We’ve been keeping a couple sweet surprises,” Lee, 23, wrote in July via her Instagram account, which has since gone private. “One little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January and another beautiful girl named Julianna who has already been one of the greatest blessings to our family.”
She continued, “The Lord has been so faithful. He’s written a story we never could’ve imagined, and His kindness in this season has left us in awe. He’s answered prayers we never even knew how to pray. This journey has been so special full of peace, excitement, and so much grace. We’re growing again, and our hearts are so full. Thank you, Jesus. 🤍”
Savannah and husband Quentin Lee are also parents of son Lake, 3. She is the daughter of Blackstock and Melissa Ashworth, who were married from 2001 to 2012. The pair also share son Seth, 19.
Blackstock, the ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, died on Thursday, August 7, after a three-year battle with cancer.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” a rep for the family told Us Weekly in a statement. “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
News of his death came one day after Clarkson, 43, announced her decision to pause her Las Vegas residency, saying Blackstock was sick, though she did not provide further details.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” she said in a statement shared via Instagram on Wednesday, August 6. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Clarkson and Blackstock began dating in 2012, tying the knot in October 2013. They later welcomed daughter River in June 2014 and son Remington in April 2016. Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, and their split was finalized in 2022 as Clarkson was granted primary custody of River and Remington.
Blackstock had not been seen in public since the divorce, last appearing with Clarkson on the red carpet at the Critics’ Choice Awards in January 2020. Amid their separation, Blackstock relocated to Montana where he founded the local Valley View Rodeo.
