Caitlyn Jenner was spotted at son Brody Jenner’s wedding following the death of her longtime friend and manager, Sophia Hutchins.
The Olympian, 75, was in attendance as Brody, 41, and his fiancée, Tia Blanco, tied the knot on Saturday, July 12, in Malibu, California.
While TMZ was first to report the news, Caitlyn’s ex-wife Linda Thompson seemingly confirmed her attendance when she posted a video featuring various people at the celebratory event. “The Jenners have a lot of love,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, July 13, as Caitlyn sat in a seat at the outdoor venue.
Caitlyn shares her youngest son, Brody, with Thompson, to whom she was married from 1981 to 1986. Caitlyn also has five other children: Burt, 46, and Cassandra, 45, with ex-wife Chrystie Scott, Brandon, 44, with Thompson and Kendall, 29, and Kylie, 27, with ex-wife Kris Jenner.
As for the newlyweds, Brody and Blanco, 28, have been together since 2022 and got engaged in June 2023 before welcoming their daughter, Honey, the following month.
Caitlyn’s presence at the wedding comes 10 days after Hutchins’ tragic death on July 2 at age 29 following an ATV accident in Malibu, California.
Hutchins was reportedly driving a four-wheeler on a road near Caitlyn’s house when she struck the bumper of a Mazda sedan, sending her vehicle over the shoulder of the road and down nearly 350 feet into a ravine. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sergeant Eduardo Saucedo told the Daily Mail on July 5. “It doesn’t seem like she was following them. I think she just came up on them and then hit the car. It looked like she tried to maneuver to go around it, but she was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there.”
One day after the fatal accident, Caitlyn — who became friends with Hutchins in 2015 — told the Daily Mail that she was experiencing “tough times” and did “not want to talk” about the tragedy.
In the midst of her grief, Caitlyn’s attendance at Brody’s wedding is also significant given the pair’s strained dynamic over the years. In a February interview with Us Weekly, Thompson, 75, revealed where the two stand after Brody claimed Caitlyn was “not there” during his and Brandon’s childhood, an assessment with which Thompson agreed.
“I’m not so sure she’s as accountable as she should be. She’s a work in progress, but Brody and Brandon are very forgiving,” Thompson exclusively told Us. “We all are, and Caitlyn comes to all family events and we all love her. We all wish her well. The truth hurts sometimes and she was not there.”
