Carrie Underwood Reveals Her ‘Natural Hair Color’ for 1st Time Since She Was 12 Years Old

Carrie Underwood made Us do a double take with her hair transformation.

Underwood, 42, took to Instagram on Monday, August 4, to show off her hair makeover. In the pic, Underwood unveiled mousey brown tresses featuring honey blonde highlights and subtle money pieces. She parted her mane, which was previously platinum blonde, down the middle and styled her tresses in soft curls.

For glam, the country singer donned a full beat, including dewy skin, filled-in eyebrows and sun-kissed cheeks. Her eye makeup was complete with glitter-flecked eyeshadow patted on her lids and swept in her waterline, as well as black eyeliner and mascara. She tied her look together with glossy lips.

“Well, the last time I saw my natural hair color, I was probably about 12 years old, but I thought it might be time to give it a second chance,” Underwood captioned the post. She continued, tagging her hairstylist, Katelin Megert, who works at the Parlour 3 salon in Nashville, “Thanks, @hairbykatelin_ at @parlour3beauty for helping me get back to my roots! #NewOldMe #Bronde.”

Underwood’s friends and fans were quick to compliment her new look in the comments section. “So pretty!!!!!” Candace Cameron Bure gushed, while Kristin Chenoweth added, “Love it!” More fans wrote that they “love this color” on the singer.

Before dyeing her hair darker, Underwood sported platinum blonde strands that cascaded to her waist.

While her go-to look is big, bouncy curls, Underwood chopped her hair to her shoulders in 2016. At the time, she told Elle it was a “mom move.”

“It’s easier to fix, which was the whole point,” Underwood explained. “I could spend half an hour to blow it dry and have it be super long, or I could spend that time playing with my son, and I’d much rather do the latter.” (Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, share two sons, Isaiah, 9, and Jacob, 5.)
