Comedian Tom Segura is speaking out about his split from his wife of 18 years, Christina Pazsitzky.
“This is my first podcast here in a while. I know that a lot of people obviously heard the news and saw last week’s episode, where Christina hosted it,” Segura, 47, said on the Wednesday, August 12, episode of the “Your Mom’s House” podcast, referring to Pazsitzky, 50, speaking out about the separation. “I don’t feel the need to say a lot to people but it bothered me that a lot of people were like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe you would make her go address this alone or do this on her own.’ Which couldn’t be further from the truth.”
He continued, “The truth is that we have been recording separate episodes for a long time now because everything that people know is not new to this. It’s been many, many months. So this is not brand new to us.”
Segura explained that Pazsitsky happened to be recording an episode before him after the pair split, meaning that she initially addressed the split with the listeners.
“We both decided to record separately. That’s just what we are doing,” he said. “It’s a horrible experience so I just wanted to let people know it’s … privately, it’s horrible. It’s a long experience. It’s emotionally a rollercoaster. Your emotions change often many times in a day. If anyone’s ever been through it or knows anyone, you don’t feel the same all the time. It’s really tough on you. Personally, it’s really tough. Having it be public is awful.”
Segura went on to note that the pair are “not combative” and “talk every day,” adding that they both are supportive of each other.
“Our focus, as you would imagine, is just on our children. We are just trying to provide the best life we can for them and we are trying to take care of them,” he said, adding that he is not planning on speaking about the split any further. “I’m going to just be focused on what I do and, like I said, taking care of the kids. Christina and I continue to do that. We talk to each other. We are fine with how things are moving along, as disappointing as it is. It is what it is in that regard.”
Segura and Pazsitzky wed in 2008 and welcomed sons Ellis and Julian in 2016 and 2018, respectively. In July, news broke that the twosome split a few months prior. Earlier this month, Pazsitzky addressed their separation during an episode of their podcast.
“We are no longer a couple but we make the children a priority,” she said. “Look, we had 20 amazing years together [as a couple] and that’s a really good run, I think, in a marriage. 20 years together and we had a very successful marriage. We created this, we have comedy careers. Most importantly, [we] created a family.”
