Former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Reece Weaver is sharing the special moment she found out her Broadway dreams had come true.
In the short clip posted via her TikTok account on Wednesday, August 12, Weaver, 24, could be seen smiling widely and appeared to be laughing in disbelief as she took a FaceTime call on her phone.
Text overlaying the footage read, “Are you ready to make your Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago?”
“A Facetime I’ll never forget,” Weaver captioned the post, adding, “@Chicago the Musical #chicagothemusical #roxiehart #audition #nyc #dream.”
Weaver’s followers were quick to throw their support behind her in the comments section.
“😭😭 you deserve everything good in the world,” wrote one, while another added, “So proud of you🥹 this video makes me so happy.”
Another social media user commented, “You’re going to smash it!! So excited for you!”
Weaver announced on Tuesday, August 11, that she will be making her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago next month after retiring from the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading team earlier this year.
“A DREAM COME TRUE 😭♥️,” Weaver wrote via Instagram to reveal her exciting new career step.
Weaver will begin performances on September 7 at New York City’s Ambassador Theatre. She will join the production for a six-week limited engagement through October 18.
“I was born and raised as a dancer,” Weaver said Tuesday on CBS Mornings. “I started dance at 3 years old. I have a degree in dance. I went to a performing arts middle school and high school, where I just fell in love with all things arts. I actually did a few musicals growing up in high school.”

She continued, “I just fell in love with the team aspect of growing something and creating something all together. I’ve always wanted to perform on the Broadway stage.”
Although Weaver confessed she was feeling nervous about the gig, she shrugged off the feeling as “very natural.”
“There’s so many iconic people who have played the role of Roxie and an incredible cast,” she said. “I do think there is a challenge ahead of me, but I’m so honored to be on this journey.”
After quickly becoming a fan favorite on Netflix’s docuseries America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Weaver shocked viewers when she walked away after three seasons.
Speaking to Us in June, Weaver explained why she made the decision to retire.
“Going into season 3, my third year on the team, I just had so much gratitude,” Weaver told Us at the time. “My cup was filled to the brim even going into this year. I had that in the back of my mind. I was excited and looking forward to year three and what it brought. But my cup was getting really, really full. I went into my last game not thinking and knowing it was my last, but I kind of treated it as it was my last, so I could really just soak it all in. I think I really needed that sense of closure for my mental state.”
