Derek Hough’s Wife Hayley Erbert Learned ASL for DWTS’ Britt Stewart and Daniel Durant’s Wedding

Dancing With the Stars alum Hayley Erbert learned ASL to speak directly to Daniel Durant during her speech at his wedding to Britt Stewart.

“Daniel, you make Britt shine brighter than ever,” Erbert, 30, said in a social media video on Monday, September 22. “You are her perfect balance, steady and grounding. Yet you let her be all of who she is. You even brought out a sporty side. I never thought I’d see it in a million years. Thank you for loving my best friend the way she deserves to be for her beautiful soul.”

Erbert took her matron of honor duties seriously when standing alongside DWTS pro Stewart, 36, who married Durant, 35, last month.

“A couple weeks ago, @hayley.erbert had the honor of standing beside @brittbenae as her maid of honor,” Erbert’s husband, Derek Hough, captioned the clip on Monday. “Hayley wanted to learn a bit of ASL so she could speak directly to Daniel in her speech. Watching her do that with so much love and care melted my heart.”

He added, “Such a special wedding, bringing so many different worlds together celebrating two souls and one beautiful love.”

Hough, 40, recorded his wife practicing ASL around their house and the gym. Fans also got to see her speech in full.

“It’s unbelievable,” Hough said at one point. “It makes me emotional watching you do that.”

Erbert made her speech the night before the wedding.

“Standing next to you tomorrow is going to be one of the greatest joys of my life,” she said, getting emotional.

Stewart met Durant when they were partnered for season 31 of DWTS in 2022. The two revealed their relationship in February 2023 and they were engaged by December of that year. Durant proposed on Christmas Day surrounded by family and friends during a hike in Lake Arrowhead, California.

The couple tied the knot at Riata Ranch in Santa Margarita, California, on August 23. Several DWTS pros were present, including Julianne Hough, Jenna Johnson, Rylee Arnold, Ezra Sosa, Emma Slater, Alan Bersten, Daniella Karagach, Brandon Armstrong and Witney Carson, among others.

“I was never the little girl that had big dreams of a fairy tale wedding,” Stewart told People of the nuptials. “So when I describe our wedding, I want it to feel like an abundance of love connecting everyone there!”

Durant added, “I never could imagine what my wedding would be like and it still feels a little bit like a dream. But it’s real. It’s happening!”
