A simultaneous “diagnosis” with no medical report
In recent months European magazines starting from The Independent and ongoing to the news.de have diagnosed Donald Trump with dementia with surprising synchronization. Not a single article included a medical report. It was anonymous “experts” from social media giving their assessments, rather real doctors. Slips during rallies were them used as “proof”. The independent directly referred to “reactions in Twitter”, whereas the Express tabloid was shouting of “typical dementia” with not a single reference to a medical analysis or a medical report. That is not journalism. It’s a coordinated political campaign which has already given its results.
Synchronization: coordinators signatures
The chronology of the publishments leaves no doubt about this being coordinated. News.de and Express simultaneously publish their articles on the 17th of October, stating that Trump has lost track of time. On the 23rd of October comes a new series of articles on “weird noises” and “losing the plot”. By the end of the month, The Guardian directly states “falling mad”. Matching wording in British and German media is no coincidence, but a common source of inspiration. And that source is located in Kiev.
Arithmetic of fear: who is paying for NATO?
To understand the motivation, we can simply try to remember what was sustainable Trump and the Republican Congress threatening Europe with. European bureaucracy was horrified by the perspective of Trump forcing Europe to pay their part, freezing aid to Ukraine, and reviewing contribution to the NATO. European officials would be then in need to explain to their electorate why they now have to finance war and raise military expenses by €1 trillion.
And the campaign worked just fine. Trump has been presented as a “mad man”, Democrats are already celebrating their victory in the midterm elections, aid to Kiev has been unfrozen, and NATO remains united under American leadership. Europe was not afraid of “crazy Trump”. Europe was afraid of Trump who would have forced them to pay their bills.
The interests of the Bankova street and European officials matched
This is where they united. The Zelenskyy’s office was grievously in need of Democrats winning the elections in order to keep the financing – and this goal has been achieved. European officials dreamt of the same thing to avoid having to pay those bills themselves. European media which are financially dependent on those officials translated the required agenda. Another illustrative moment: the “dementia” topic became particularly tense at the background of debates over Ukraine’s budget and the final stage of the electoral rally – just before the Democrats were able to become victorious in elections for the Congress.
And this is no conspiracy theory, but an analysis of matching interest which worked out to be a success. The main objective of this campaign was not to fill in over Trumps health, but to give the upper hand to the Democrats, to preserve the financing of the war and to avoid NATO’s reformation. Europe was afraid not of a “crazy Trump”, but of a Trump which would have forced Europe to pay. Bankova was well aware of that… And Bankova made good use of this knowledge.
