Ginny & Georgia shook things up with a baby twist — and Brianne Howey promises there are even more surprises in store for season 4.

“I don’t know how our writers do it season after season. I’m blown away by these scripts. I’m on the edge of my seat just as much as everyone else and I feel like it’s such a privilege to have this fourth season, because you see all of this really earned payoff for all of the characters,” Howey, 36, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her Colgate partnership after their The Science of WOW campaign.

Howey teased how season 4 will push every story further.

“The characters have been on these very, very complicated journeys. There’s so much payoff this season for certain relationship dynamics and for certain goals each character has had,” she noted. “Simultaneously, you’re seeing every character trying on a new role — in a way — and that’s what I feel like I always have to hand it to our creator and our writers. There’s always a new side to these characters.”

It’s a good thing Ginny & Georgia has already been renewed for season 4 because that pregnancy twist — and the paternity drama — is just getting started. The hit Netflix series, which premiered in 2021, follows a young single mother named Georgia (Brianne Howey) who moved her family to Wellsbury, Massachusetts, after running away […]

Howey continued: “We meet some new characters as well — which brings out new sides of a lot of the characters — and it’s so fun to play and hopefully just as much fun to watch.”

Ginny & Georgia, which premiered in 2021, follows a young single mother who moves her family to a new place after running away from her past. The Netflix series stars Howey, Antonia Gentry, Diesel La Torraca, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter and Raymond Ablack.

When season 3 wrapped up, Ginny (Gentry) and her brother, Austin (La Torraca), found a way to help Georgia (Howey) escape prison time by framing her ex Gil (Aaron Ashmore) for murder. The family didn’t get to celebrate their new normal for long, because by the end of the episode, Ginny realized her mom was pregnant. The problem? It was unclear whether Georgia’s estranged husband, Paul (Porter), or love interest Joe (Ablack) was the father.

“It’s complicated. My initial instinct was to say we see a more mature Georgia because she has reaped so many consequences from so many of her actions — and she’s really she has suffered so much because of her actions and her consequences,” Howey shared. “This season, it was very sobering for her. But at the same time — with some new characters who come into play — we see a very immature side of her as well as usual. There’s always this dichotomy to each of the characters.”

Howey remained more tight-lipped about what the prospect of motherhood — and a possible romance with Joe — will mean for Georgia.

“It can never be too easy because there’s plenty of twists and turns. But we’ve watched Georgia try to work on herself — granted, it looks different on everybody — but there is some payoff with the steps she’s taking to try to better herself,” she continued. “Because she temporarily lost her kids, and I think it was the most sobering thing that’s ever happened to her. Her kids are the most important thing in the world to her.”

She continued: “Even Georgia — who can be a little tone deaf and not that self aware all the time — can see that she needs to change. And Ginny is the best role model for her in that way. As much as they’re at odds, Ginny is also her biggest cheerleader. Georgia wants nothing more than to make Ginny — in particular — proud. It was really fun to play into these new colors.”

While teasing how season 4 will unfold, Howey revealed there will be a “pretty remarkable cliffhanger” at the end of the season. She also addressed the show’s future beyond season 4, adding, “If there’s more story to tell, I think we owe it to the characters to keep telling these stories.”

Howey has remained booked and busy since filming wrapped on season 4 with partnerships such as with Colgate Optic White as part of their The Science of WOW series. In the campaign, Howey got to highlight how Colgate’s hydrogen peroxide complex works with enamel to dissolve years of stains to help reveal a brighter and confident smile.

“I got to learn so much. My favorite part about it all is that it’s beauty and science,” Howey told Us. “I also got to work with Colgate scientist Dr. Lisa Manus, who was just the best. She’s a total natural and she belongs in front of the camera. But I feel like I learned so much about the science of it all with the hydrogen peroxide complex. Most toothpaste targets surface stains, but what Colgate Optic White does is also focuses on deep set stains and the differences between these two things. When you feel confident, you look confident.”
