The Hollywood Bowl is transforming into the whimsical world of director Wes Anderson this weekend.
The tribute to the beloved filmmaker features a star-studded line-up as die-hard fans dressed as their favorite Anderson characters descended on the iconic venue.
On Friday, actor and frequent Anderson collaborator Bill Murray took to the stage to emcee the event.
“What are we doing here?” he jokingly asked to huge applause. “I mean someone’s got to ask that question.”
Murray then introduced legendary ’80s band Devo and later Anderson himself, who welcomed musician Jackson Browne — whose song “These Days” is featured in an iconic “Royal Tenenbaums” scene.
Alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the line-up also featured Beck, Jenny Lewis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O and Jason Schwartzman, star of seven Anderson movies.
The set list featured tracks from 30 years of Anderson soundtracks, including “Rushmore” and “Moonrise Kingdom.”
