Kristin Cavallari and her best friend, Justin Anderson, have some thoughts about Taylor Swift being subpoenaed in Blake Lively’s ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni.

“Honestly, I thought it was bulls***,” Cavallari, 38, said during the Tuesday, May 20, episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “Well, I saw what her lawyer said, that [it] was like she had to license her song that they used in the movie along with 19 other artists. And Taylor Swift is the one being subpoenaed. Like you could use any of the other ones.”

Both Cavallari and celebrity hairstylist Anderson, 44, agreed that Swift’s name is being dragged into the legal drama to “garner attention.”

Us Weekly confirmed earlier this month that Swift had been subpoenaed amid the ongoing It Ends With Us legal drama. A representative for Swift told Us in a statement on May 9 that the singer “was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” and didn’t see the movie — which starred Lively and Baldoni — “until weeks after its public release” because of the Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift’s legal team is seeking to reject Justin Baldoni’s subpoena amid his ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively. According to legal documents obtained by Billboard on Tuesday, May 13, the legal firm representing Swift, 35, labeled the subpoena “an abuse of the discovery process” in a legal motion filed on Monday, May 12. (The […]

“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet,’” the statement continued, which is what Cavallari was referring to. “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

Cavallari and Anderson continued to discuss the friendship between Swift and Lively during Tuesday’s podcast.

“They’re friends, and Blake threw her under the bus,” Anderson claimed. “Blake wrote a letter to Justin Baldoni — it’s between the two of them technically from this movie, It Ends with Us — and Blake wrote him like a text message referencing Taylor Swift and Taylor being kind of like her dragons. It was the gayest thing I’ve ever heard.”

Anderson was referring to apparent text messages between the It Ends With Us stars, which were released when Baldoni filed the $400 million suit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds and publicist Leslie Sloane. (Sloane has filed for her name to be removed from the suit while Lively and Reynolds have denied all allegations. Reynolds also filed for the suit to be dismissed.)

“I think it’s such a bummer. You know, I’m a massive Taylor Swift fan. I have met her in person. I think she’s a wonderful person,” Anderson continued. I think Taylor really does, like, get bamboozled by bad people. I think Taylor gets excited about new friends.”

Cavallari noted that Swift is “too nice” while Anderson also claimed that Lively’s alleged treatment of others is infamous in the “beauty world” of Hollywood, noting that he has “been hearing about it for years.” (Us Weekly has reached out to Lively’s team for comment.)

In her filing, Lively claimed that Baldoni named Swift […]

Cavallari and Anderson also speculated about what the subpoena will mean for Lively and Swift’s friendship going forward.

“I think this will be the end of it. I think that Taylor is also one of those people, like once you cross that line, she will be done with you,” Anderson claimed. “Taylor is smart. She’s not going to let somebody tarnish her reputation.”

Cavallari added, “I feel like it’s all about her image right now and she doesn’t want to be dragged into this.”

Us confirmed earlier this month that Swift and Lively’s friendship has fractured amid the ongoing legal drama.

“Taylor and Blake have talked, but it’s strained,” a source shared in our cover story. “Their friendship is not what it used to be.”
