Here we are. One day left. And I’ll say what I always say: polls don’t vote. Only voters vote.

One reason I can’t wait for this midterm election to be over is that virtually every press organization that I know of is telling me that polls vote.

“It’s a blue wave.” “Every Republican senator is going to lose.” “Every Republican house member is going to lose.” “It’s gonna be worse than Milwaukee beating Tampa in five games in the World Series.”

In this case, the polls are predicting Milwaukee actually won four straight games. Oh wait, the World Series is over. It was four out of five — but you get my drift.

According to the new Times/Siena poll, the Democrats lead by 11 points in the Michigan Senate race. Pause right there, because the Democratic congresswoman, Haley Stevens, just endorsed Republican Mike Rogers so she’s probably taking a third to half of the party away from Abdul El-Sayed.

The former Michigan Democratic party chairman has told people to stay home. But the intrepid Times is still giving it to Dr. El-Sayed by 11 points. Go figure.

Democrats are up by 7 points in Texas. No, they’re not.

Six points in Maine. Please stop already. Susan Collins always wins.

And five points each in Ohio and Kansas, two historically red states.

Yet then in the same article, the Times acknowledges Republicans are winning over late deciders by 9 percentage points in seven battleground states.

And then they say white liberals were about 30 percent likelier to take the poll than registered white Republicans.

Of course they are. Who else are they going to talk to? And more than likely none of them have ever had a meal in the Cheesecake Factory.

I’m not making any predictions, but I’m just saying I’m so tired of the polls voting in the press. They don’t.

People vote. And we’ll see what happens.

How about this: The economy is booming. The majority of Americans prefer free enterprise and free-market capitalism over big government state-run socialism.

And I still believe most folks like their private healthcare and do not wish to pay for health and other entitlements for illegal immigrants.

So I have the outrageous view that with Mr. Trump campaigning super humanly and on message most of the time, and the economy booming, even with gasoline prices uncomfortably high, the GOP is going to maintain control of the senate and the house generic race is gonna be razor thin, one way or another. Most of all I continue to believe that voters, not polls, decide elections.
