If you’re looking for the Upside Down, head to McDonald’s.
McDonald’s and Netflix have teamed up to launch a “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85” Happy Meal, inspired by the new animated series that dropped on April 23.
The new Happy Meal gives fans a taste of the other side without the fear of Demogorgons, and the meal comes with plenty of collectibles for fans to take on their next strange adventure.
Each Happy Meal comes in a custom show-inspired box and features a collectible character toy, a “Stranger Things” activity book, and a QR code that unlocks an interactive game in which you can save the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana.
If you don’t get the collectible character you desired in your Happy Meal, no need to fret — two new characters will be revealed weekly. There will be 12 total, depending on the market.
The “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85” Happy Meals will launch in the US starting May 5, followed by global rollout across Brazil, Singapore, Norway, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Italy, India and more.
The new animated show from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers is a spinoff of the hit TV series, which concluded with Season 5 and the series finale on December 31, 2025.
“Stranger Things: Tales From ’85” returns to Hawkins with the familiar faces and characters, voiced by different actors, as they encounter new monsters and a paranormal mystery.
“That spirit of adventure and childhood camaraderie made McDonald’s the perfect partner to bring it all to life,” a press release said. “What better way to invite a new generation of ‘Stranger Things’ fans into Hawkins than through one of the most iconic cornerstones of the ‘80s?”
The adventure that’s unlocked with the QR code on each Happy Meal shows Dustin and the gang forming the “Hawkins Investigators Club” to defeat creatures that have taken over a “beloved local hangout” —McDonald’s — with your help.
McDonald’s and Netflix have launched a campaign spanning linear, digital and social, using original animation drawn directly from the new show to bring fans to the center of the action, touting, “The Upside Down has never felt so close – or so delicious.”
