Popular children’s TV host Ms. Rachel is giving fans some insight into how she came up with her infant daughter’s name.
“She’s named after my incredible mama!” the 42-year-old YouTube star explained of her daughter Susannah’s moniker in an interview with Today published on Wednesday, April 30. “My mom raised us with so much unconditional love and joy. She raised my sister and I as a single mom. I’ve always been in awe of her strength.”
She continued, “She even built us an epic tree house all herself!”
Ms. Rachel, also known as Rachel Griffin-Accurso, announced that she and husband, Aron Accurso, welcomed their second child into the world via surrogate on April 8.
“Sometimes timing isn’t what you plan and the road to get there is bumpier than you expect, but when you hold your little ones you know… I’m meant to be your mama,” the parenting influencer captioned the moving announcing her daughter’s arrival. “I was unable to carry this pregnancy for medical reasons and we were blessed to have a surrogate who gave us the most precious gift possible. We are now all family forever. We have immense gratitude and a deep bond. It’s been a truly beautiful experience. I’m in awe of her.”
Ms. Rachel also thanked her husband for being “the best husband and dada!”
Several days later, the proud mom shared another photo of Susannah and herself, dressed exactly alike in the influencer’s beloved Ms. Rachel uniform.
“CAN YOU SAY MAMA? 💕” she wrote in the caption.
Publicly, Ms. Rachel often refers to her mom as “Nana Hannah,” who she credits with giving her the strength to start her illustrious YouTube page after becoming a mother and realizing there was a lack of media resources for mothers and fathers of children who experience speech delays.
“She’s just incredible,” she once told Drew Barrymore while appearing as a guest on the Drew Barrymore Show. “She would set her mind to something and just do it. She worked at a daycare during the week [and] then Pizza Hut as a waitress on the weekends, she went back and got her Masters — viewing that was just extraordinary as a child. I was like, ‘I can do anything.’”
In addition to Susannah, Ms. Rachel and Aron are also parents to 7-year-old Thomas, who has been a huge help when it comes to caring for his baby sister.
Ms. Rachel explained to Today that both Thomas and Aron love performing new material for Susannah, of course, and that Thomas has even volunteered to change a few diapers.
“He said he’ll help with everything but poopy diapers,” she shared. “I get that.”
Ms. Rachel called the last three weeks as a mom of two as “beautiful, joyful and so tiring.”
