Long Beach Police Department told the California Post that all officers — including the watch commander — were dispatched Sunday morning in response to what they described as a “suspicious circumstance,” as authorities ordered evacuations around the Redondo Beach Pier.

The Redondo Beach Police Department issued the evacuation order just after 11 a.m., urging anyone in the pier area to leave immediately due to ongoing police activity.

“Police activity on the pier. Anyone in the area of the pier is requested to evacuate safely,” the department said in a statement. “Please stay away from the pier area until further notice.”

Officials also shut down Catalina Avenue between Torrance Boulevard and Beryl Street as a precaution. The exact nature of the incident has not been disclosed, and authorities have not said what prompted the heavy police response.

The disruption comes as the nearby BeachLife Festival is set to wrap up its final day Sunday, with performances from Sheryl Crow and James Taylor scheduled for later in the day. It remains unclear whether the incident will impact the event.

No injuries or arrests have been reported, and officials have not released additional details as of Sunday morning.
