A New Jersey actor best known for his roles in the “Resident Evil” video games was charged with attempted homicide for allegedly shooting a nearby driver during a road rage incident that sent a nearby university into lockdown.

Ernest Wesley Heinz, 48, went on a near-deadly tirade in broad daylight last Thursday after cutting off a woman while she was attempting to merge at a red light, according to cops.

Within minutes, Heinz allegedly exited his vehicle and started cursing out a female driver behind him, even threatening to kill her while she sat there in fear, police said.

“As they approached the light, the male yelled at her, reached his hand out the window and fired a single shot,” said Capt. Mark D’Esposito of the Galloway Township Police Department said.

The woman quickly called police and reported she had been shot in the face while Heinz sped away — and right into the Stockton University campus grounds.

When officers arrived, Heinz was long gone, and the victim had thankfully sustained a non-fatal wound on her nose, according to the Galloway Township Police Department.

The woman was conscious enough to tell authorities where Heinz headed and even provided a description of his white Honda SUV.

Authorities were able to use the victim’s details about his car to track down the violent driver later that day.

Stockton University was in lockdown the entire three hours that authorities scoured the campus for the road rager.

Heinz was cuffed at a residence near the campus and charged with attempted homicide. He is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility and is expected to appear in court for a detention hearing this week.

Police, oddly, shared his professional headshot instead of a traditional mugshot photo online.

The testy thespian hasn’t appeared in any relevant projects since a short film called “The Soul of Blue Eye” in 2014. During his short-lived career, he played an uncredited role in “The Sopranos” and is best known for providing face models in two “Resident Evil” video games.
