Grey’s Anatomy actress Caterina Scorsone was married to Rob Giles for 10 years before they called it quits.
“Caterina and Rob have separated,” reps for Scorsone and Giles told People in a May 2020 statement. “They remain friends and are committed to coparenting their children in a spirit of love.”
Before their divorce, Scorsone and Giles welcomed three children together: Eliza, Paloma and Arwen.
Years after their divorce, Scorsone was spotted holding hands with former Grey’s Anatomy love interest E.R. Fightmaster in March 2026. Neither actor publicly addressed their relationship status at the time.

Caterina Scorsone Filed for Divorce in May 2020
Us Weekly broke the news that Caterina Scorsone filed for divorce from Rob Giles, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
In court documents obtained by Us, Scorsone separated from Giles on May 1, 2020, less than two weeks before filing her petition.
Their divorce was finalized in December 2021, in which Scorsone and Giles agreed to share custody of their kids.

Caterina Scorsone and Rob Giles welcomed Eliza, Paloma “Pippa” and Arwen “Lucky” in 2012, 2013, and 2019, respectively. Pippa was diagnosed with Down syndrome after she was born.
“My whole concept of what motherhood was had to shift,” Scorsone said on the “Motherly” podcast in 2019. “When Pippa was born, and I realized that she had Down syndrome and she was going to have some physical differences and some cognitive differences … I didn’t know what her capacity would be. It really did send me into a tailspin.”
She continued, “Suddenly my understanding of my job as a mother completely distilled and opened. I loved Eliza so much because she was so clever, and she was so beautiful and she was so funny … but all those things were external qualities. It forced me to realize that I was loving my other daughter and everyone, including myself, for absolutely the wrong reason. I was loving people for their external qualities and not for their essence.”
Scorsone subsequently leapt into action to give Pippa the best care possible.
“Happy World Down Syndrome Day,” the actress wrote via Instagram in March 2023, sharing a photo of herself with Pippa. “Love is exactly what we are. Exactly as we are. 💛💙❤️ #joyisrebellion.”
What Has Caterina Scorsone Said About Her Family?
While Caterina Scorsone kept much of her family life private, she has offered praise to her community that helped her balance being a single mom with her acting career. (Scorsone stars as Amelia Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy after the character’s introduction on the series’ Private Practice spinoff.)
“I have a friend who’s a single mom, and she moved into a house with two other single parents so they could all share child care,” Scorsone told Parents in a 2022 interview. “It just makes sense! Nobody can do it themselves.”
As for Scorsone, she revealed that she is “lucky enough to have a lot of help” raising her kids including her sisters, a babysitter and a nanny who helps out with cooking.
“I would never perpetuate the myth that it’s all easy,” Scorsone added. “COVID-19 forced people to acknowledge how hard it is to work and parent. My sister and nanny lend their talents to our family while I lend my skills to the show. My kids see that it’s all important.”
