‘Selfish’ influencer called out for egotistical act at packed Dua Lipa concert

An influencer is being called ‘selfish’ and ‘distracting’ for using a ring light to film at a Dua Lipa concert.

Dua Lipa kicked off her international tour in Melbourne last week and is heading to Sydney tonight for the first of a three-night run at Qudos Bank Arena.

But, thanks to this influencer, now fondly referred to by the internet as ‘the girl with the light’, there’s one annoying habit people are encouraging others not to do.

A video posted by Maddie, @a_seedy_old_man on TikTok, went viral this week, featuring a nameless woman dancing in the crowd at a Melbourne Dua Lipa concert.

The post, captioned, ‘No words,’ showed the woman using a ring light attached to her phone while filming herself.

A security guard is then seen approaching the woman, asking her to stop what she’s doing.

“Social anxiety fears this influencer at Dua Lipa Melb night 5,” the video said.

“I went alone to Dua Lipa’s concert…”

Though the comments on the video were quickly turned off, it accumulated over 3 million views, meaning TikTok users were quickly led to the source.

The influencer, named Donjeta Bekteshi, on TikTok as @doniasglam, posted a video of her own at the show.

“I went alone [to] Dua Lipa’s concert,” she wrote.

“Called my family, shared videos with my friends, went live for my audience, and recorded my favorite songs.

“I danced with every song and loved every bit of it. My heart was full.

“Love You Dua!”

‘Put down your phone!’

Commenters on the post were divided, with some choosing to defend Donjeta’s actions at the show.

“I saw that video that a girl posted for you, but please don’t even think about that, don’t give a f***. You slayed QUEEN,” said one commenter.

“She is enjoying the concert. The other one is watching her, not Dua,” another agreed.

“Do your thing queen,” said a third.

However, the majority were fuming over Donjeta’s behavior, asking her to be more considerate of others in the future.

“Girl I saw you in person and you were so distracting with that light,” one commenter said.

“Girl put your phone down and enjoy yourself,” another agreed.

“No, ur heart wasn’t full if you need to record everything and can’t feel it,” another snapped, responding to her caption.

“CAN EVERYONE PUT THEIR DAMN PHONES DOWN,” said a fourth person.

“Glad you enjoyed yourself! But please be more considerate of the people around you next time,” another person said.

The trend no one wants 

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this take over concerts.

After one of the Drake concerts earlier this year, Melbourne-based influencer Jade Brycki took to TikTok, asking for advice from her followers.

“I really need your opinion on this, because I don’t know if I’m just being old and boring in this scenario,” she said.

“I was at Drake last night, and it was really good, but there were these two people who were filming themselves the entire show with their flash on. Like phones facing them with their flash on the entire time.

“There were a couple of people behind them who I don’t think they were with, so they had these flashes in their face the entire time.”

She went on to call out these girls for their lack of consideration for others – and commenters on the post agreed.

“I’ll allow for 10 sec, but after that. I WILL GO KAREN! Hahaha,” said one commenter.

“This is 100% valid!! I had 2 people doing this sitting directly in front of me at the Weeknd concert with their flash in my face for the majority of the concert and it was so hard to see anything,” another person agreed.
