Stassi Schroeder had to remove The Valley from her weekly watchlist.

“I had to stop watching it. The last season, I was like ‘This is great f***ing television,’” the Vanderpump Rules alum, 37, said on the Wednesday, June 25, episode of Katie Maloney and Dayna Kathan’s “Disrespectfully” podcast. “Then I started the first two or three episodes of this season and I’m like, ‘This is so f***ing dark.’”

Stassi explained that the show’s heavy subject material is what ultimately turned her away.

“It’s so dark and it’s not interesting enough to balance the darkness,” she reflected. “I’m just like, ‘This is making me feel uncomfortable. It’s making me feel icky. I need to tap out otherwise I’m going to have to talk to my therapist about what it all means.’”

Stassi Schroeder does not watch Vanderpump Rules, but she’s a fan of the spinoff series, The Valley. “I don’t watch Vanderpump Rules, but I’ve watched The Valley,” Schroeder, 35, said on the Friday, April 19 episode of “The Toast” podcast. “Do you ever go on Facebook and look up people that you went to school […]

Katie, who also starred on Vanderpump Rules, echoed similar sentiments about The Valley’s dark nature.

“Being on reality TV [makes] it hard to watch it through the same lens as other people watch it I think. I think people who are seasoned watchers are smart and they have an idea of how things work,” she said. “Even watching a show like The Valley it’s so … intense. Everyone is out for blood on that show it’s f***ing nuts.”

Dayna added that she believes The Valley needs a “balance of real love” amid all the drama going on in the casts’ love lives. (Season 2 is currently following Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright and Jesse and Michelle Lally‘s respective divorces.)

Stassi shared that she thought the first season of show had a good balance but has since lost its sparkle.

“Now watching, I’m like, ‘Oh you guys don’t give a f*** about each other,’” she quipped.

Katie noted that with The Valley’s current cast, they don’t have the “history” to “mend things” or “navigate certain situations.” She added that it appears like the cast is trying to be “the morally superior one.”

“Don’t we all? Everyone who goes on a reality show wants to be the morally superior one,” Stassi said. “We don’t all get to be it. Sometimes you have to fall into your own f***ing lane. Otherwise, a TV show is boring.”

In addition to Jax, Brittany, Jesse and Michelle, The Valley stars Daniel Booko, Nia Booko, Luke Broderick, Janet Caperna, Jason Caperna, Kristen Doute, Jasmine Goode and Zack Wickham.

While most of season 2 follows the aftermath of two divorces, there is levity when it comes to Kristen and Luke. The couple are engaged and have started expanding their family. Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Kristen and Luke welcomed daughter Kaia earlier this month.
