Losing weight can be incredibly difficult, something that reality star and podcast host Aneesa Ferreira is all too familiar with. The Challenge alum has spent the past year focusing on herself, her health and feeling her best, and her efforts have paid off. Ferreira has lost 63 pounds so far, something she can credit to hard work and dedication.

Ferreira has also been refreshingly open about her health. She’s been documenting her GLP-1 journey with telehealth platform Effecty since the beginning, and she’s not afraid to talk about the work that’s gone into her transformation.

“I know a lot of people think GLP-1s are a quick fix, but that hasn’t been my experience,” Ferreira says. “This didn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, consistency and grace with yourself.”

She credits her weight loss not only to the shot she’s been taking, but also to the behind-the-scenes work she’s put in. That includes a rigorous five-days-a-week training schedule, running, prioritizing protein and staying consistent even when she’d rather do anything else.

“The shots are a tool, not the whole answer,” she says. “For me, it has always been about building a lifestyle and actually taking care of my body through training, recovery and sleep.”

While it can be satisfying to see the number on the scale go down, what has made this experience even more satisfying for Ferreira is that she finally feels more like herself again. She started using Effecty not just to lose weight, but also to feel better both inside and out. “As I get older, my biggest goal isn’t being smaller, it’s being healthier,” she says. “I want to stay mobile, move well, feel strong and truly enjoy my life.”

Her GLP-1 experience has helped give her the energy and drive to move her body regularly, while also delivering a major confidence boost – the days of hiding behind oversized clothing are officially gone.

Effecty is a telehealth platform that connects patients with licensed providers for help with weight care, women’s hormone health and longevity. The process is as simple and stress-free as possible – you don’t need to leave your house or pay a membership fee.

After filling out an online medical questionnaire, you’ll have a chat-based visit with a physician licensed in your state. If they determine it’s appropriate, a medication can be shipped to your door. You’ll get unlimited messaging with a licensed provider and access to a care team who is fast and responsive. Ferreira credits the support for helping her stay on track throughout her weight loss journey.

And remember – a GLP-1 is only one part of the story. Ferreira sets realistic expectations about what you’ll get from a similar health journey, noting that movement, balanced eating and healthy habits are necessary to looking and feeling your best. “Consistency will change your life,” she says. “Not overnight, but it will.”

If you’ve been struggling to lose weight or you want to feel healthier, the reality star recommends taking some of the pressure off of yourself. “Give yourself permission to explore your options,” she encourages others. “You deserve to feel your best.”
