A showgirl must never leave before her encore, and Taylor Swift is ready for hers with an extended version of her 12th album.
“About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind,” Swift, 36, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, September 23. “You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history.”
Swift wrote and recorded The Life of a Showgirl in between stops on her Eras Tour. The LP dropped in October 2025, nearly one year after the global tour came to a close, and quickly broke multiple streaming and purchase records.
“I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max [Martin] and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album,” she noted on Wednesday. “Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs.”
The pop star added, “I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made.”
Swift collaborated with Martin, 55, and Shellback, 41, on four new songs, which will be included on the deluxe edition of The Life of a Showgirl, out Friday, September 25.
One of Swift’s new songs is titled “Patient Zero,” which she previously announced Tuesday, September 22.
“I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!),” she wrote via Instagram, using 12 exclamation points to seemingly reference her 12th record. “It’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours. 0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣.”
The other songs, according to a Spotify tracklist, are called “Cleveland!”, “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.”
Swift’s husband and Cleveland native, Travis Kelce, dropped a subtle “like” on the single announcement. Swift and Kelce, 36, have been married since July — and the NFL star was the muse for several songs on The Life of a Showgirl.
“The song ‘Wish List’ is one that I love so much because it’s really romantic, it’s got a lot of really vivid imagery of different wishes people have for how they want their lives to be,” Swift said about one of her loved-up tracks during her Release Party of a Showgirl screening in October 2025. “It’s very accepting of all of those … and then in the chorus, it’s like, ‘This is what I want. I hope they get what they want. This is what I want.’ I just love this one. It makes me feel like I’m flying through clouds.”
