Catherine Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas are Hollywood royalty, so it makes sense that the pair own several elegant homes across the world.

The actress opened up about the four homes she shares with Douglas in an August 2025 interview with The Times. (Two of their houses are located in New York, while a third is in Canada and the fourth is in Spain.)

“I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable,” she told the outlet of her living arrangements with her husband.

What Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas Have Said About Their Spain Home

Zeta-Jones told The Times that she and Douglas appreciate the quiet time they’re able to spend at their Spain estate, away from Hollywood’s spotlight.

“Two celebrities together make 10. It’s just the way it is. There’s two versions of the story and there’s two make-believes,” she said about navigating the spotlight as a couple. “We don’t listen to the crap that is written about us, that’s the main thing. And we respect our space, we’re independent spirits. We are very similar; we were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We’re not afraid to be verbal, to express ourselves. I wear everything on my sleeve and so does he, which is good.”

The Mallorca home, referred to as S’Estaca, was built in the 1800s and spans over 200 acres. The property was purchased by Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator during the mid-19th century, who built several other buildings and amenities on the property during his tenure.

Douglas first purchased the house located on the northwest coast of Mallorca in 1990 with his then-wife, Diandra Luker, for $3.5 million. After their 2000 divorce, Douglas and Luker shared the Mallorca home for a period of time before she eventually moved out.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones wed in 2000, and they’ve been traveling back and forth to spend time at the Mallorca home with their kids ever since. (Douglas shares son Cameron with Luker, and son Dylan and daughter Carys with Zeta-Jones.)

“It was very uncomfortable sharing the house in S’Estaca with my ex-wife, Diandra,” Douglas told Ultima Hora in August 2021. “Six months for each of us wasn’t pleasant for anyone. Now that everything is settled and the house is 100 percent ours, Catherine’s and mine, I can say I never wanted to leave.”

The pair’s Spain home was briefly put on the market in 2019. To promote the listing, Douglas narrated a video shared via the Billions Luxury Portal’s YouTube account highlighting the property’s rich history and scenic views.

“Many of my friends have stayed at S’Estaca, and we’ve enjoyed wonderful times here together,” he said. “S’Estaca has its own olive groves and vineyard, and naturally there’s a fine cellar in which to store the award-winning wine.”

Douglas continued, “Over the past 30 years, I’ve put my own mark on the place, modernizing and redecorating the old buildings that were built by the Archduke. The estate now has seven separate buildings containing five apartments, with 10 separate bedrooms.”

Douglas and Zeta-Jones ultimately took the property off the market in 2020.

“I love returning to Mallorca. I’ve been coming here for over 30 years and have learned over time that, ‘A happy wife, a happy life,’” Douglas told Ultima Hora. “Catherine, my wife, is very happy here; even more so now that we no longer share the house with my first wife, Diandra. She feels much more comfortable now. She’s decorating the house her way. That makes me happy, seeing her truly happy here, in our home and with our friends.”

Douglas also said that the Mallorca estate holds a special place in the hearts of his kids and grandkids.

“My children will continue to come, and my grandchildren and their children,” he said. “I’m sure this island will be theirs for generations to come. This house is my family’s, and it will continue to be. Cameron, Dylan and Carys love it. My daughter speaks perfect Spanish.”

Zeta-Jones and Douglas put their $12 million Westchester County, New York, home on the market in June 2024. They initially purchased the house for $4.5 million in 2019. They decided to list the house after their kids moved out.

“When I purchased our Irvington home, I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have,” Zeta-Jones told The Wall Street Journal in a statement at the time. “Now that both our son and daughter have left the nest it seems like the right time to sell.”

She also said that she and her husband “plan to spend more time in Bermuda and Europe.”

The duo also listed their home on Manhattan’s Upper West Side for $21.5 million in July 2021. The building was modeled after a 12th-century English castle. The residence boasts four bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms along with a library, chef’s kitchen and dining room.

The Central Park West apartment has since been taken off the market, per The Wall Street Journal.
